About Jumpstart Careers
Learn what Jumpstart Careers is, who it helps and how the Volume Experience Method supports practical career readiness for 16-18 year olds.
Jumpstart Careers is a UK careers platform for 16-18 year olds, parents and schools. It helps young people become life-ready, not just exam-ready, by practising the real steps that sit between education and work.
Jumpstart Careers was created to help young people practise the real-world steps that sit between education and work: CVs, applications, interviews, opportunity search, confidence, resilience and online presence.
Many young people leave school with qualifications but still feel unsure about what to write on a CV, how to answer application questions, how to talk in an interview or how to find realistic opportunities near them. Jumpstart Careers turns those big tasks into smaller actions that can be practised.
The Volume Experience Method, or VEM, is the idea that confidence grows through repeated attempts. Every application, every interview answer and every rejection can become useful practice. The aim is not to pretend that rejection feels good. The aim is to help young people understand that a no can still teach them something useful for the next yes.
Jumpstart Careers also gives parents and schools a shared language for support: encourage effort, practise often, keep young people in control and treat each attempt as progress.
